Please send a quick e-mail to let us know that you are aware of the cancelation.  Phone calls will only be made if absolutely necessary.

Mrs. Cunningham (our seamstress) will most likely come to next Saturday's practice to finish measuring any student who missed seeing her back in December.  Please remember that all $50.00 Deposits for uniforms will be due during all of next week's practices (Tuesday and Saturday).

See you all next week!  Be safe!!!

                          January 11, 2012

It is with deepest sympathy and extremely heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our Senior Twirling Corps member, Julia Balchak.  She will be deeply missed, but will remain in our hearts forever!!!!!

For all current and past members of the corps,  we will be meeting at 6:50 p.m. this Friday evening (January 13th) at Parzynski's Funeral Home on Broad Avenue in N. Belle Vernon.  The Corps. will pay our respects to the Balchak Family as a group at 7:00 p.m.

In honor of Julia, if you plan on attending the viewing on Friday (whether with us at 7:00 p.m. or at a different time) please wear purple instead of black.

Thank you!!!!!

                          January 7, 2012

As a reminder - the procedure that we follow for class cancelations is as follows:

1.)  e-mails will be sent out to everyone first.

2.)  the cancelation will be listed in numerous places here on the website.

When you see the cancelation, please remember to send a brief message back to Alice, Donna or Brandy letting us know you are aware of the cancelation.

Text messages will be sent and/or phone calls will be made last and only to those who do not send messages that they are aware of the cancelation.

If any type of weather advisory has been issued (Winter Weather Advisory, Winter Storm Watch, Winter Storm Warning, etc), and you see on the news that other businesses/schools are starting to cancel events, you should check your e-mail and/or the website for announcements/updates.

If you are ever unsure, please do not hesitate to call to check.

                            January 3, 2012

Due to the Winter Weather Advisory that has been issued this evening, Color Guard Practice has been canceled.  Please do not report to the studio.  It will be closed.  Please take a moment to send Alice a quick message to let her know that you are aware of the cancelation.  Color Guard Practice will resume next Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 6:30.

                         December 3, 2011

Registration for all three of our baton twirling classes is now closed.  We will begin to accept new students into our three baton classes again in September 2012.

Poinsettia orders and money were due today.  If you missed placing your order, you may still do so by calling your order in to Donna or by sending her an e-mail.  You must place your order by this coming Monday morning.

Sarris Candy orders will be available for pick-up during all of next Saturday's classes.

Mrs. Cunningham will be at the studio this coming Tuesday from 6:30 to 7:00 to measure for new uniforms.  She will also be at the studio next Saturday during the baton twirling classes.

                           July 26, 2011

Congratulations Everyone!!!!!

We just found out this evening that judging did occur for performing corps last Saturday during the parade at Charleroi!!!!

We are very proud to announce that the corps won first place!  The Mon Valley Super Stars took 2nd, and the dance troupe took 3rd.

We can now announce that we hold the following three titles for 2011:

Fayette County Firemen's Convention  Twirling Champs

Washington County Firemen's Convention  Twirling Champs

and

Westmoreland County Firemen's Convention Twirling Champs

This is the first time in many, many years that the corps has held three different county firemen's convention titles in the same summer.  We don't always get to compete in the Westmoreland and Washington County parades because of their locations - most summers they are held outside of our driving range.  This is certainly a very special accomplishment!!!!!

                                July 14, 2011

Reservation Forms for the Annual End-of-Year Pool Party will be passed out during the Tuesday night practice on July 19th.  Please make sure that you return your completed form by Saturday, July 30, 2011.

We must make sure that enough food will be available.  We also have to let the owners of the pool know how many people we expect so that they can have the appropriate number of lifeguards on staff.

Please keep in mind that the pool party is for current performing members and their immediate family members only.  Current performing members will be paid for by the corps.  Each family member will be charged a fee to help defray the cost of the food and admittance to the pool.

                               July 11, 2011

Due to the Severe Thunderstorm Watches and tornado-like conditions reported in the local area, tonight's practice has been canceled.  We will not have a practice this week.  If you were planning on placing an order for batons, shoes, bags, etc., at tonight's practice, please e-mail those requests to Alice by Wednesday morning.

Our next practice will be Tuesday, July 19th, starting at 6:30.

Seniors are reminded to bring their fire batons and to dress appropriately.  All younger students will be given the opportunity to try the fire batons toward the end of practice, if they have at least one parent present to give permission.  Make sure you wear old clothes and have your hair pulled back.

                              July 9, 2011

Well Girls, you've done it again.

For the fourth year in a row, you are the

Fayette County Firemen's Convention

Twirling Champions!!!!!

Along with the Westmoreland County Firemen's Convention, you now have two titles to celebrate for this parade season.  Congratulations!!!!!!!

                           July 7, 2011

The website has hit a milestone today.  Although the number tracker on the home page doesn't look like it, the website has received 10,000 hits!!!!!  The tracker doesn't have enough slots to show the number 10,000 and higher.

                         June 10, 2011

Congratulations to all of the girls who performed during the dance recital this evening!  You all did a fabulous job!!!

If you have an order you can turn it in one of three ways:

     1.  Hand deliver your order and money to Donna at the studio between 11:30 to 1:30 (whether you are a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior).  Because of limited parking at the studio due to all of the snow, please be prepared to drop off your order and money quickly.

     2.  E-mail your order to Donna at batontwirler_dw@yahoo.com or use her link on the Staff Page.

     3. Phone your order in to Donna at 724-929-5183 or 724-366-1489.

  January 8, 2010 = Evening Announcement

The twirling studio will be closed tomorrow - Saturday, January 9th.

All three classes have been cancelled.

If you haven't already done so, please read all of the announcements listed below, and remember to check out the Schedule Page, to keep up to date.

We hope everyone has enjoyed a wonderful holiday season.  And we look forward to seeing everyone next week!!!!!!

  January 8, 2010 = Morning Announcement

Today's Senior Competition Practice at Marion Elementary School's Gym is cancelled!!!!!

The Belle Vernon Area School District is closed for the day.

Please keep checking the website and your e-mails for updates concerning all practices (Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors) scheduled for tomorrow.

As always - please call Alice or Donna, or send an e-mail to abreckenridge@verizon.net to let us know you got the message about practice being cancelled.

On a completely different note:

At the next practice(s) - Donna is going to talk to everyone about a possible NEW FUNDRAISER

We are considering holding a joint CASH BASH with the North Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Department.  This fundraiser WOULD NOT BE FOR PERSONAL PROFIT.  This would be a CORPS' PROFIT fundraiser.  This means money raised would go toward purchasing equipment needed for shows/competitions/parades, the end of the year party, etc.

For this fundraiser to work, we will need 10 to 15 PARENTS TO COMMIT TO WORK THE ENTIRE EVENING.  Also, all members will be REQUIRED to either sell a set number of tickets for the event or make a monetary donation equal to the number of tickets.

After Donna talks with everyone, we will decide how much interest there is and then decide whether to proceed with the event.

                        January 6, 2010

There are announcements here for all three sections of the corps concerning all practices scheduled for this weekend. Make sure you read all the way down to the bottom of today's entry.

Please keep checking the website daily for updates and announcements.  We are keeping a close eye on the weather forecasts.  If we get what is being forecasted, there is a very good chance that all scheduled practices for this week will have to be cancelled.

Seniors =

If the Belle Vernon Area School District cancels school on Friday, then our practice is automatically cancelled.  We will not be permitted to be in the elementary gym because the school will be closed.

If the Belle Vernon Area School District starts out the day and then dismisses classes early, this will also cancel our practice.  If this happens, I will do my best to send out e-mails to everyone to let you know that the building is closing.  If you are unsure if we are having practice please call Alice (Cell = 724-350-1708) or Donna (Cell = 724-366-1489) to ask before you venture out.  With both of us being school teachers, we may not be able to answer right away, due to being in our classrooms.  Please leave a message, and we will get back to you.

Hopefully, we will be able to get our practice in on Friday (4:30-6:30 @ Marion Elementary).  Please remember to bring two batons with you and your flag, if you took one home.

Sophomores, Juniors, & Seniors =

The forecast for Saturday is  calling for DANGEROUSLY COLD temperatures.  If this does occur, Saturday's classes will mostly likely be cancelled.  Please continue to check the website and your e-mail.  We will notify everyone through both of those two medias first.  Phone calls will be made to those members that we do not get a response from (either by phone or by e-mail.)

                        December 19, 2009

We are very sorry to have to cancel the last classes of 2009, but due to the snowy weather conditions, the studio is going to be closed today.

It is very important that you contact Alice or Donna by either phone or e-mail to let them know that you are aware of the cancellation.  We don't want anyone venturing out for no reason.

Please check the Schedule Page for your first scheduled practice of 2010.  Keep checking the website throughout the holiday break for any announcements that may come up.

We want to wish everyone a Very, Merry Christmas and a Safe, Happy and Prosperous New Year!!!!!

See all of you in January!!!!!!!

                        November 6, 2009

Due to unforeseen circumstances - All classes on Saturday, November 7th have been cancelled.  All baton, clothing, equipment, etc. orders will be due during next week's classes.  Christmas Poinsettia Order Forms will be passed out during all classes next week.

It is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that you contact Alice either by phone or e-mail to let her know that you are aware that the classes have been cancelled.

                        November 5, 2009

PLEASE NOTE:  Registration for the Senior Corps will officially close at the end of the last class on Saturday, November 21, 2009.

We are extremely proud of how well the Senior Corps did in their competition at East Allegheny High School last night.

You girls were awesome!!!!!

The next practice will be on Saturday, March 14th from 11:30 to 1:30.

Remember to bring your uniform to practice on Saturday.  Mrs. Cunningham will be there at 11:30 to make alterations and pick up ALL of the uniforms to shorten the skirts and add the sequins.  If you are not able to be at practice, you MUST make arrangements to have someone bring your uniform to practice for you.  We will make sure that Mrs. Cunningham gets your uniform with all of the others.  We need to make sure that she has them in enough time so that we have them back in time for CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!!!!

A clip of Jill Robbins (one of our former Senior Corps Captains/Feature Twirlers) performing in this year's Rose Bowl parade was found on You Tube.  The clip shows her performing in one of her last performances as a Penn State Majorette.  Jill graduated from Penn State in December.

The clip is called 2009 Rose Parade:  Penn State Blue Band.  She comes up around the 2:30 mark in the clip.

                          January 17, 2009

Today's practice is cancelled for all groups today - Flags, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors.  We really didn't want to cancel practice two weeks in a row, we just don't have the heart to ask everyone to travel out in sub-zero degree temperatures.  Please keep your fingers crosssed that the weather is better next week.

Please send an e-mail or call Alice or Donna to let them know that you are aware of the cancellation.

Seniors - it is very important that everyone keeps reviewing the routine at home.  Also, please try to go back and remember the two-baton portion of last year's summer routine.  That section is going to be added to this year's winter routine and will be put in during next week's practice.  Next week's practice will begin at 11:30 and run to 1:00 at least.  We have to get the routine up to a minimum of 3 minutes in length.

                          January 10, 2009

We received official word between 10:30 and 11:00 that the staff at Norwin High School has decided to cancel this evening's Preview Show.

We will see everyone next Saturday at the studio for practice.  We would like to have Senior practice from 11:30 to 1:00 both next Saturday (the 17th) and the following Saturday (the 24th).

Please call Alice or Donna or send Alice an e-mail to let them know that you are aware of the cancellation.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!

The parade season has officially come to an end and what a season it was!!!!!

During the season the corps won not one but two championship titles!!

2008 Fayette County

Firemen's Convention Champions

2008 Western Pennsylvania

Firemen's Convention Champions

Way to go, everyone.  We are very proud of all of you.  We will see all of you on Monday during the pool party at Crystal Pool!  Remember to bring one of your corps T-shirts.

                         August 9, 2008

Please see the Event Directions page concerning directions for the Western Pennsylvania Firemen's Association 115th Annual Convention Parade at Fairchance, PA tomorrow.

Also, reminder = tomorrow's parade is a non-stop parade.  Seniors do not need to bring their fire batons.  We will, unfortunately, not be performing the competition routine.

For the End-of-the-season picnic, we would like for all of the girls to wear one of their corps T-shirts.  We would like for them to wear them during the awards presentation before lunch is served.

                           July 11, 2008

Due to the forecast for tomorrow - exceptionally high temperatures of 90 degrees and above - we wanted to remind everyone to be very cautious about spending a lot of time in the sun prior to a parade.

We realize that it is going to be perfect swimming pool weather. However, please remember that although the water is a great way to cool down, being out in the sun all afternoon can really drain the body's energy.  We don't want anyone to get heat exhaustion.

If you are going to go swimming prior to the parade, please try to go for no more than a couple of hours.  Also, we do want everyone to drink plenty of water - not soft drinks or other beverages loaded with sugar!!!!!!

Martinette Spirit Night!!!!!

We would like for everyone to wear a

Martinette T-shirt

(black design or turquoise design)

to practice on Monday, July 14th.

We hope to take "action shots"

throughout practice.

                             July 2, 2008

We hope everyone has a

very safe and happy 4th of July!!!!!

On days when the weather is bad and events need to be cancelled (practice, parade, performance), please check the website and your e-mail.  If you have seen the cancellation, please use the link on the Home Page of the website or send an e-mail to let us know that you have received the information.  This will help us out a lot!!!!!!  We will not have to bother you with a follow-up phone call, as well.

Please note that ALL of the rain-dates, for the remainder of the season, have now been changed.  This is due to a schedule conflict that has started with the beginning of July.  Please look at the Schedule Page carefully to see when each rain-date will occur.

If you haven't looked at the Pictures Page lately where the photo album is, you may want to check it out.  Some new photos have been added from last summer's parade season.  Pictures from this summer's parade season will be added soon.  Keep checking!!!

                           June 30, 2008

Due to the inclement weather, this evening's practice is cancelled.

We will now have practice on Tuesday, July 1st.

Outdoor practice schedule at Bellmar will remain the same.

The Sophomores will practice from 6:30 to 7:30

The Juniors, Seniors, and Flags will practice from 6:30 to 7:30/8:00.

If the weather is bad again tomorrow evening, we will move the practice indoors at the studio.

If we need to move indoors, it will be posted on the website, e-mails will be sent and phone calls will be made.  Hopefully, we will be able to practice outdoors.

The indoor schedule will be as follows:

Sophomores = 6:30 to 7:15

Juniors =   6:30 to 7:30

Flags = 6:30 to 7:30

Seniors = 7:00 to 8:00

                             June 28, 2008

I want to thank everyone for "sticking it out" with us today during the rain shower.  Fortunately, it didn't last long, and we were able to get all of the pictures done.  It is just unfortunate that we had to use the blue sheets for the girls to sit/kneel on.  I apologize for that and hope they don't interfere with the group pictures too badly.

We should have the pictures back in a couple of weeks.

Revised parade/performance schedule sheets were passed out today during the individual pictures.  If you left before we started passing them out, or were absent, you can get a copy at the next practice.

The next practice is Monday night (June 30, 2008) at the back of Bellmar Middle School.  The start time is 6:30 for all groups.  Seniors are reminded that they are not to bring their fire batons.  July dues can be paid starting with this practice.  They will be $45.00/child for the month.

(The monthly dues for August will be $22.00/child.  August dues can be paid starting with the practice on July 28th.)

We do not have a parade during this upcoming week.  Except for practice, the corps has the week off.

Enjoy the holiday weekend!!!!!!!

                             June 20, 2008

                     Congratulations!!!!!!!

All of you did an awesome job at the Mt. Pleasant Parade Tuesday night and the judges agreed.  The corps was awarded 1st Place in the Senior Division and 1st Place in the Junior Division.     Way to go, girls!!!!!!!

Seniors are having an extra practice tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m. to learn the fire routine.  The practice has been moved to Donna's house due to the construction going on at Bellmar/Marion.  Please look in the Event Directions section on the Schedule Page for directions to her house.

Practice on Monday, June 23, 2008, has been changed to Tuesday, June 24, 2008.  This is also due to the construction going on at Bellmar/Marion.

Papers were passed out at the parade tonight concerning a possible July 4th parade at Canonsburg, PA.  Please make sure that you turn in your form at the next performance or practice.

                             June 7, 2008

Senior Corps Members = unless we have inclement weather for next Tuesday's practice, we do plan on practicing fire.  Please remember to wear appropriate clothes, pull your hair back (tightly) and bring your fire baton, if you own one.

We hope everyone enjoys their last full week of school.

Good Luck to all of you who are taking final exams.

Study hard and do your best!!!!!!

We will see all of you on Tuesday after everything is all over.

                             May 17, 2008

Congratulations to all of the girls that made it out to the first outdoor practice of the season.  We felt that everyone did a great job for the first time outside!!!!!!

Remember to keep practicing on your own at home.  Doing the routines standing still & inside the studio is one thing.  Doing the routines outside & moving is completely different.

Next week's practice will be outside again, weather permitting.  The full group will begin at 10:00 for parade routine practice.

The Sophomores will end practice at 11:00.

The competition corps (Seniors, Juniors, & Color Guard) will practice the combined competition routine from 11:00 to 12:00.  Senior corps members are reminded to wear old practice clothes and come with hair securely pulled back because we do plan to begin practicing with the fire batons.

All new Sophomores uniforms are finished and were available for pick-up at today's practice.  If you were absent, you will be able to get your uniforms during next week's practice.  Mrs. Cunningham is still finishing up on new Junior and Senior uniforms.  She hopes to have them finished soon.

Batons have also come in.  They will also be available at next week's practice.

Clothing and window decals are not available, yet.  Those will be distributed as soon as they arrive.

We would like to take a count at next week's practice for how many girls will be available to perform and compete at the Westmoreland County Convention Parade being held in Derry on Saturday, June 14th.  Please check your personal schedules before coming to practice so that you can let us know if you will be able to travel to Derry.  With this parade being a Title Parade, we can only attend if we are going to have a good turnout of girls.

Good Luck to all of our Senior Corps members who are going through Majorette Tryouts at their respective high schools.  We hope to announce the results of all of the local school tryouts at next week's practice.

We would like to update the corps.' on line photo album.  If anyone has digital pictures of the 2006-2007 season that you would like to share, please e-mail them so that we may place them in the photo album.  We prefer that they be sent by e-mail, as opposed to being turned in or mailed in, because it is easier & quicker to download.

Registration and the first class of the 2007-2008 season are fast approaching.  We will be starting our 39th year!!!!  Look for the corps.' ad in the Valley Independent on Thursday, September 27th, and Thursday, October 4th.  Please see the schedule page for the registration and lesson fees.

Cole's Dream Team needs your Help!  Cole is a 4 year old child with a rare disease called Mastosytosis.  Mastosytosis is a life threatening disease and at time debilitating.  He has thousands of leasions (spots) all over his body and, even with constant medication, he is always itchy.

Cole cannot go outside because his body cannot handle the heat.  This fund would help to build his dream which is to play like all the other children.  You'll be helping his dream team build him an environmentally safe playground with room to ride his bike and a swimspa for therapy.

If you are interested in helping out, but cannot attend the benefit due to our final parade of the season at Blaine Hill, you could give a donation to Mrs. Boytim during practice, the Fayette City parade or the pool party.

                          June 27, 2007

We want to congratulate ALL of the girls for their performances this whole month!!!!!  What a long month.  You all did FANTASTIC!!!!  We are soooo very proud of each and every one of you.

To all of the seniors (Marla, Sarah, Caitlin, Whitney, Jenna, Kaleigh, and Brooke):  You all outdid yourselves.  Your solo routines at both performances (Pittsburgh Passion & St. Sebastian) were simply wonderful.

A Great Big Thank You goes out to Jill Robbins, former corps captain and feature twirler, for performing with the corps at the St. Sebastian Fair.  You were such a joy to watch and an inspiration to all of the younger girls.  We wish you and the other Penn State Majorettes the very best of luck during Nationals at Notre Dame at the end of July.  We love you!!!!!

Way to go at the Greenock Parade!!!  This was our first official competitive parade of the season.  We took 1st place in the Senior Division and 1st place in the Tiny Tot Division.

July dues will be collected at the July 2nd practice.  They will be $40.00/child for the month, not $45.00 as originally announced.  The dues have been lowered since we do not have a lot of parades scheduled, as of right now, for the month of July.  Please put the dues in an envelope, marked with your child's name and what it is for.  This amount is to cover the first four weeks of July.  The July 30th practice is going to be considered as part of August.

Please remember to hand-wash and line-dry your uniforms.  Also, remember to cover your uniform when eating/drinking before or after a performance or when spraying hairspray.

Instead of having practice on Monday, August 13th, we thought it would be nice to end our season with a party.  We are hoping to start a new tradition.  We would like to host a pool party at Crystal Pool.  Crystal Pool is located in Fayette City.  The party will run from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  All of the girls will be recognized and receive their trophies around 6:00 p.m.  Food will be served shortly thereafter.  We would like for everyone to provide a covered dish.  A sign-up sheet will be available at practices closer to the date of the party.  Chicken and cheesy potatoes will be a part of the meal.  Please fill in the form that was passed out at practice and return it as soon as possible so that we may inform the owners of the pool how many will be attending.  They need to know how many lifeguards will need to be on duty that evening.

We must ask that you limit your attendees to immediate family members only!!!!!  Thank you!!!!

                           June 17, 2007

Happy Father's Day to all of our fathers!!!!!!!

Great job to all of the girls who performed at the Pittsburgh Passion show!!!!  We are very proud of all of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A big congratulations goes out to Katrina's mom, Kara, and the rest of the players of the Pittsburgh Passion.  (Katrina is a member of the sophomore corps.)  The Passion ended their regular season with an undefeated record of 8 - 0 with a punishing win over the Vipers.  The final score was 77 - 0!!!!!

They are now the Central Division Champions!!!!!!!

We wish them the best of luck in the playoffs.

Goooooooo Passion!!!!!!!!!!
